Dirty Sexy Furry is a great little smutty read. Every once in awhile I need a read that leaves me smirking, snorting and squirming. I know when I read a PN shifter book like this, I can count on a strong, possessive alpha who needs to claim his mate...or he'll die...or he'll go crazy...or he'll explode!!! What woman doesn't want a man who is consumed with want and desire...to possess...to ravish...to claim!!!This book has a wee bit of a storyline where the couple are faced with a mating that is considered wrong by their families, clan and elders. They are also fighting a hidden enemy who wants to expose their secrets and kill them.
But, really it's all about the bangin'. They fight their feelings...but not the lust. That first touch sizzles. The first kiss consumes. The connection forms when their skin comes together. NO-ONE can fight the crazy feelings once a shifter finds his mate.
Dirty Sexy Furry is paranormal smut and every once in awhile I go looking for something just like this. I want to see the hero losing control because of lust. I want the heroine to feel safe in the arms of a man who will die without her. I'll definitely be keeping Eliza Gayle in mind next time I feel the need...the need for smut...MEOW!!

The problem with the book is you don't ever feel like you have all the information, like you've started in the middle and still don't really know what's going on. It starts with Lucas already in a cell and a woman wanting his secret. Problem is you never know why or how he was caught. Then you have a dream of him and Kira, she's running from home but you never know why for real. You don't even get a grasp on what she is and the constant reference to some Tallan, still not sure if its some object or just some inner strength. She is supposed to be extremely powerful but you don't see it because she's constantly getting her ass kicked by some wicked witch, who happens to be the same who held Lucas captive. She also seems to be the same as the woman Lucas brother Malcom was working with. Then out the blue it seems Lara is not working with Malcom but the step father, who disappears along with Lara. Still not sure what the two wanted from Lucas or why she was so intent on going after Kira either. Plus, where is Kira's mother, she's supposed to be so in touch with Kira thru her own abilities, how did she not know what was going on with her and if she's linked to her husband why didn't she know what he was up to? In the end when it was time to find out just what was going on all you get is nothing besides them being band and Kane having to take over.
This book was more action than romance, but still managed to be pretty steamy. A few times I actually found myself wishing I was in Kira's shoes... Or spot on the bed... Or in her place against the tree... (smiles dreamily to self...)
Speaking of Kira... She was just awesome. She's strong, feisty, and fiercely independent... Just the kind of girl Lucas needed. Oh and she's also pretty good at being a submissive. (I find myself reading more and more books featuring the BDSM lifestyle these days. I'm not sure if it's just the new trend or if it's just me being kinky... If it's the former, I'm definitely not complaining ;) )
Overall, I really liked this book, but deducted a star since it went from the characters not really knowing how they felt about each other (other than sexually) to them all of a sudden madly in love with each other. I understand that they aren't human, but I still think a bit more build-up would have been better. I loved all the action and the back-and-forth between Kira and Lucas (which earned it all 4 stars). The hot sex and Dom/sub roles were just icing on the cake.
I will most definitely be reading the next book I the series. I'm a bit eager to find out what happens between Lucas' brother Kane and a certain someone... (No spoilers here!)

Lucas is book one in the Black Cougar series by Eliza Gayle. This is a short quick read with lots of sex.
Lucas is definitely an alpha male who makes assumptions, but we see he has a loving and forgiving nature. Kira is psychic and on her way to a mental meltdown due to her mating urges kicking in, but she is also lucid enough to be wary of a mating.
The story is enjoyable, with action, romance, and a nefarious plot. The couple’s chemistry is smoking, but they do very little communicating, except in the physical area with the sex being very steamy. We get an anal and a M/F/M scene too. Their is a little foreshadowing for the next book. I did have some issues with some things being left unresolved or unexplained and the end is abrupt, leaving you hanging a little, but also wanting more.
Lucas is an enjoyable enough read. Something that fills a void for when you need a nice steamy quick read.
I throughly enjoyed Dirty Sexy Furry. It was easy for me to become invested in the main characters. I was satisfied with the development of the H and h relationship and how it evolved. The author pulled them together slowly and gave you a chance to understand why each of them felt the way they did. I'm looking forward to Kade's story next!
